I have often warned in this space against blaming the terrorism problem on "extremism" because the label is so easily applied to non-terrorists. As I wrote below, "people are considered extremists
if they believe God speaks to them and are willing to follow his commands
rather than the social norms of society." Because this definition encompasses a wide variety of peaceful faiths, there is no doubt that non-violent believers will be caught in its net. Here is a perfect example.
