Media critic Tim Rutten rightly takes movie reviewers to task in today’s LA Times. He points out that nobody in the mainstream media – absolutely nobody – mentioned in their review of Million Dollar Baby that the movie is about advocating euthanasia. Why the silence? Could it be that they didn’t want to scare people away from the theaters? Also, if, as some suggest, The Passion of the Christ and Fahrenheit 9-11 were excluded from Oscar contention for being propaganda, why not Million Dollar Baby as well?
